North American Van Lines: The Best of Kitchener Moving Companies
Located just over 110 kilometres west of Toronto, Kitchener is full of friendly locals, culture and a unique history. The city shares many of its community services and events with neighboring Waterloo, but there are many things that make Kitchener a special place all on its own.
According to the 2011 Canadian Census, Kitchener had a population of around 219,000 people, so Kitchener has a quaint atmosphere, but isn't too far from one of the country's largest metropolises if you are wanting big-city amenities. Seventy percent of the residents in Kitchener are married, so there is a major focus on families, but people from all walks of life are welcome here.
Some of the biggest industries in the city include manufacturing, finance and educational services, but health care and construction also take up a good portion of the working sector.
Activities and Attractions in Kitchener
One of Canada's most celebrated Bavarian celebrations takes place every fall in the area with the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. There are many events that correspond with the fest, including a 5K run, a fashion show, plenty of food and, of course, beer.
There are also several museums located in Kitchener, including the popular Maple Syrup Museum of Ontario, a tribute to one of Canada's most famous exports, and the Joseph Schneider Haus Museum, a Georgian mansion dedicated to one of the city's founders. THEMUSEUM, an innovative and interactive cultural space that combines art, science and technology, constantly provides meaningful exhibits that are perfect for expanding the minds of people of all ages.
History buffs will love the Woodside National Historic Site, which is the childhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, the longest-serving Canadian prime minister.
